THE GREEN HILLS

The green hills are created throughout the sites to elevate the planting platform using fast growing species throughout seasonal changes, composing a dynamics space that enchance the importance of phytomediation within White Bay Power Station. Both the valleys and the mounds planting will utilised the topographic to creates a micro climate conditions that will enrich both the flora and fauna within the sites. These hills will also frame the viewport within the garden to connect the user to the site history and past. Through cutting & filling the landscape there we hope that the site will not be dramatically altered. A series of pathways will use recycled concrete found on site, with the bridge to access the site constructed from corten steel.

The green hills is restoring connection to old industrial & a sustainable urban civic society. By remediating the garden and creating public space, people will engage and reconnect with the history of the site and learn how regenerative processes are an integral part to the future of urban citys. The journey of the garden space and view ports are specific to creating an experience and revealing the old , present and the possible future. A regenerative process with guided tours help the public learn about phytoremediation and learn how past environmental errors can be rectified. The healing process not only regenerates the landscape, but also gives the public an aesthetic and functional performance.
